Privacy Policy

The National Weather Association (“NWA”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it through compliance with this policy. This policy describes the type of information the NWA may collect from you on https://nwas.memberclicks.net and/or https://nwas.smallworldlabs.com (collectively, “Websites”) and the practices for collecting using, maintaining, and protecting that information.

What Information is Collected

The NWA collects information through voluntary registration for our Websites by which you may be personally identified (“Personal Information”). The NWA collects demographic data to better understand where members work or go to school; to track diversity of our membership in order to better represent our members in leadership roles and in recruiting activities; to tailor products and services; verify voting qualifications or membership categories; to send targeted emails to members associated with particular industries, universities/colleges, etc.; and to share contact information with other members active through NWA Community. Overall, numbers or percentages of data may be published by the NWA, but we will not publish data tied to an individual name. This may include information such as:

  • Name, date of birth, address, email address, or work/student status.
  • Information you provide by filling out forms on our Websites. This includes information provided at the time of registration of membership, posting material, or requesting further services.
  • Records and copies of correspondence (including email addresses) if you contact the NWA.
  • Response to surveys completed for research purposes.
  • Details of transactions you carry out through our Websites and of the fulfillment of your orders. You may be required to provide financial information before placing an order or purchasing a membership through our Websites.
  • Search queries on our Websites.

You may also provide information to be published or displayed (“posted”) on public areas of our Websites or transmitted to other users of our Websites or third parties (collectively, “User Contributions”). User Contributions are posted on and transmitted to others at your own risk. Although the NWA may limit access to certain pages, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable. Additionally, the NWA cannot control the actions of other users of our Websites with whom you may choose to share your User Contributions. Therefore, we cannot and do not guarantee that your User Contributions will not be viewed by unauthorized persons.

The NWA may use this Personal Information for specific, limited purposes. You may “opt out,” either now or anytime in the future if you do not wish to receive NWA newsletter or be included in a published list of members. However, members agree to receive notices via email or other electronic communications per the Bylaws.

Disclosure of Your Information

The NWA does not sell or provide your contact demographic information to those outside of the NWA without your permission. We may provide limited contact information (such as name, email address, phone number, industry, city, and state) to NWA leadership, staff, and committees for use conducting NWA business.

The NWA may disclose personal information that we collect or you provide as described in this privacy policy:

• To our subsidiaries and affiliates.
• To contractors, service providers, and other third parties we use to support our business and who are bound by contractual obligations to keep personal information confidential and use it only for the purposes for which we disclose it to them.
• To a buyer or other successor in the event of a merger, divestiture, restructuring, reorganization, dissolution, or other sale or transfer of some or all of NWA’s assets, whether as a going concern or as part of bankruptcy, liquidation, or similar proceeding, in which personal information held by NWA about our Websites’ users is among the assets transferred.
• To fulfill the purpose for which you provide it.

The NWA may also disclose your personal information:

• To comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.
